Our group encounter a difficulty in getting clear results from our gel electrophoresis in our first run. I seemed that our bans for a few of the sample weren't as clear as we had hoped on the first run. Our group came the the hypothesis that it was due the high fat content in the 2 lanes that seemed smeared (cougar and cow). We combatted this by opting to use just 9.5 microliters of each animal protein sample when we ran it the 2nd time in efforts to avoid overloading the lanes. This approach ended up giving us clearer results the second time and we were able to get more defined bans for the proteins.
A piece of advice that I would give to other groups is since we are doing a presentation to start a google slides document and send it to each member of the group through email. This can help if your group has trouble finding times to meet up throughout the week because you can get on at separate times and work on the presentation. It also helps if you have trouble meeting in person you can communicate on line through it. It is defiantly a great tool i would recommend to other group because it is working well for my group.
