Research Project Blog #2

Planning our experiment was the biggest issue in our lab so far. Initially, our hypothesis was to test which type of protein imitation crab would be more closely related to but it was quickly rejected due to imitation crab being cooked. We formulated a new hypothesis where we would have to compare a heart muscle protein of a certain species to heart muscle protein of another species to see if it is more similar than the leg protein of the same species. In order to obtain accurate and precise data, we followed the same method and procedures for both experiment and the results for the gel came out almost identical. A possible error that can occur would be from cutting the meat about 1 cm^3. Instead of doing this we should’ve weighed out the same mass for each meat to guarantee more accurate results.
