Research Project Assignment 2 - Individual Blog Post - Na Nguyen
For our group project, we ran 2 gels with the same materials to copare the different of heart, leg, and breast between chicken and turkey. They all came out pretty good, and suppose our hypothesis. The dustance of the bands in our 1st gel are further compare to the distance of the bands in 2nd gel. The skeletal muscles are pretty similar in the leg and breast of chicken and turkey. On the other hand, the cardiac muscle bands are somewhat different when we looked at the gel.
We did 2 gels and not changing the materials because we are very sure that we can do the comparation between the chicken and turkey using muscles in the leg, heart and breast. Our 1st gel is very clear and more bands than our 2nd gel, while the 2nd gel is very faded and shorter. The error could have been occur when we tried to weight out our samples to make them more accurate and comparable and the samples are smaller than the 1st trial samples. The second reason could be that we didn't let our sample in the buffer enough time at room temperature, we put in the hot water bath right after we extracted the liquid to the crewtop. Our 1st gel is more accurate, reliable and better for us to do the comparation.
