Individual Blog post by Fatoumata

Research Project Blog#1
We are doing a research on proteins found in different body parts of Turkey and Chicken to compare and see whether proteins found within an organism are more or less similar than proteins found between organisms that carry out the same functions.
Its shape determines the function of a protein and its shape is determined by its unique amino acid sequence. The fact that proteins that have similar functions have similar structures has been used to estimate how genetically similar species are. Even though functionally similar proteins have similar amino acid sequence, they are not exactly the same between organisms. The difference in amino acid sequence of functionally similar proteins between organisms is due to single amino acid substitutions. This could mean there is very saddling difference between proteins found in proteins in the same body parts of similar functions of a turkey and a chicken.
Having done this research successfully, we would not only be able to answer the question of are functionally similar proteins of different species more similar than proteins within an organism of different functions but also how similar chicken is to turkey by comparing and analyzing their proteins.
